Akiba Rubinstein has added extensively to our enjoyment of modern chess. Not only are his games exciting and instructive in themselves, but they also introduced to the chess world some highly original variations in opening play. For instance, it was Rubinstein who developed one of the best answers known to the Four Knights opening. (Indeed, this answer all but banished the opening from serious play.)
