Then Mephisto Phoenix is just right for you. This high-end chess computer, made of fine wood, combines cutting-edge technology with the beauty and feel of a traditional chessboard. 

The Phoenix includes 4 high-level engines and neural engine technologies and achieves a playing strength of up to 3400 Elo. It also includes 23 emulations of classic chess computers from the 1980s and 1990s. 
The system is equipped with 4 different top-level engines: Shredder 13.5, Komodo 14.1, Hiarcs 14.2, and Stockfish 15 NNUE.

Starting from a very simple level, suitable even for absolute beginners, the system can reach a maximum performance of over 3400 ELO. In fact, there are countless options for adjusting the playing strength to suit your individual needs. The system covers the widest range of playing strength ever offered by a chess computer.

Powerful hardware
The Phoenix uses a 1.5G 64-bit Quadcore processor with 4G of RAM provided by a Raspberry Pi 4 B.  

Its 7" TFT touch screen with a resolution of 1024x600 px offers an in-depth view of the computer's reasoning processes and simplifies control of the countless functions. The powerful speakers provide modern, clear sound effects that perfectly match the look and feel of the system.

The module measures approximately 18 x 13 x 9 cm and weighs over 700 grams. It features connectors for Millennium chessboards with piece recognition, a USB Type A connector for updates via USB or PGN downloads, and a 9V DC IN connector for power supply.

System updates and extensions are installed directly on the device via WIFI.

Another advantage of Mephisto Phoenix is the wide range of training options to improve your game. In particular, the device offers a wide spectrum of playing levels, ranging from 700 ELO to over 3500 ELO. This way, you can always play against an opponent that matches your level and “grows” with you. Each of the included engines has its own playing characteristics, allowing you to train against different playing styles. For example, you can play against an aggressive engine to improve your defensive skills, or against a positionally strong engine to deepen your strategic knowledge.

A particularly interesting feature is the Shredder engine, which adjusts itself fully automatically and provides a detailed Elo rating. In this career mode, you can continuously monitor your progress and see how much you have improved by training with the computer. For example, you can start at the beginner level and gradually progress, while the computer dynamically adapts to your growing skills.

The device comes with various opening books, including a standard book by Mark Uniacke with over 1,000,000 positions taken from master games. This allows you to play a variety of openings and is therefore ideal for learning new opening strategies.

The evaluation bar next to the chessboard shows at a glance how the engine evaluates the current position. This allows you to quickly recognize mistakes and develop a sense of the quality of your moves.

Other training features include a retraction mode, a hint function for help in difficult situations, and a mode for easy position building. This allows you to adjust the current position at lightning speed at any time to train in specific scenarios, whether it's an endgame with few pieces or a complex position in the middle game.

All possibilities: offline and online
Whether you prefer to play offline against one of the four integrated chess programs or compete online against opponents from all over the world, Mephisto Phoenix offers you all the options. Thanks to built-in WiFi, you can connect Mephisto Phoenix conveniently and wirelessly to online platforms such as LICHESS. Play against other people directly on the chessboard, without having to use a smartphone or PC. This gives you an authentic playing experience on a real chessboard, even when playing online, and you can start it just as easily as you play with one of the included chess programs.
