Description

This book pits readers against the grandmasters by placing you in real-game situations. Your task is to find the moves that led to the defeat of some of the strongest players in the world. Quite often one move can change the course of the game, and calculating with precision at the right moment can mean the difference between winning and losing. Even if you have had a lost position for a long time, you may suddenly get the chance to turn things around if your opponent drops his guard for a moment.

Imagine that you are sitting in the tournament hall facing a grandmaster. It is your turn to move. You take a discreet glance at your opponent to find out what he thinks about the position, and you find him looking calm and confident. But suddenly his expression changes. He is now staring intensely at the board and seems uncomfortable for a moment. Your eyes meet, but he quickly looks away. This could be your chance. Your opponent has seen something, but you have to find out what it is!

This book contains 351 puzzle positions with full solutions, and a self-rating system to assess your progress. The majority of the positions are from recent events, and most have never appeared before in chess puzzle books.
