Queen's Gambit Declined - 2nd hand (Samarian)
Samarian Sergiu
Descrizione
The Queen’s Gambit Declined is a sound defence which has been proven both in theory and practice and, as Samarian demonstrates, can be used actively as well as for passive defence.
The great practitioners of the Queen’s Gambit Declined include all the great names in chess of this century: Lasker, Capablanca, Alekhine, Euwe, Botvinnik, Smyslov, Tal, Petrosian, Spassky, Fischer and Karpov, all of whom have been great experts on the line both with the white and the black pieces.
Samarian gives particularly detailed attention to the lines of greatest current significance: the Exchange variation, the Tartakower defence and the Tarrasch (battleground of the 1969 Petrosian-Spassky world title match). The older lines are not ignored and the main line-Classical defence, which formed the principal arena for the 1927 World Championship fight between Capablanca and Alekhine, and all other lines are covered in sufficient detail for the reader to avoid being surprised by anything other than a brand new innovation.
Sergiu Samarian is an international master of correspondence chess and a well known chess author in his native Romania.
