Miniatures from the World Champions - 2nd hand
A 2nd-hand book in fine condition. Algebraic.
Short games with combinational finishes appeal to players of all strengths. Particularly instructive are those examples where a single opening error is drastically punished or where an opening innovation leads to an immediate and decisive advantage.
This collection of 50 miniatures includes games by all 12 World Champions, with the emphasis on the post-war greats. The author also includes four players who, while never achieving the title of World Champion, were nevertheless 'kings' of the chessboard.
Capablanca, Alekhine, Botvinnik, Fischer and Karpov himself all feature prominently in this entertaining work which is sure to give as much instruction as enjoyment. In addition to the 50 main games, a number of other miniatures and game extracts provide thematic examples of the styles of each player.
