In the course of a game of chess, questions continually arise that test a player's reasoning skills. Questions such as:

“Who has the better position?”
“Should I resolve the tension in the center?”
“How can I improve the placement of my pieces?”

This series of lessons by the master player and nationally recognized teacher Sunil Weeramantry brings the fundamentals of strategy and tactics to life and shows players at all levels how to think like a master.

FIDE Master Sunil Weeramantry is a nationally acclaimed educator and the Founder and Executive Director of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation. A two-time New York State Champion, Sunil is better known these days as the stepfather of GM Hikaru Nakamura, one of the world’s elite grandmasters. He is co-author, along with Alan Abrams and Robert McLellan, of Great Moves: Learning Chess Through History (Mongoose, 2017), a blended learning text that teaches chess and social studies.

Ed Eusebi is a Candidate Master in both over-the-board and correspondence chess. He has served chess as a coach, organizer, tournament director, and website content editor.
